Your transaction cannot be completed: What is it and how to fix it?

Android’s operating system is a very popular software which is constantly reviewed and supervised in order to get new developments and content, while also improving the performance and default configurations of the mobile device.

Nevertheless, even a very solid operating system such as Android can cause error codes to appear. These are almost always solved by using the options included inside the operating system itself, which avoids the annoying need of using third-party app services.

For some time now Android has had an annoying error when its users try to buy something on the Google Play Store but the payment is declined or not processed. The same happens when they have purchased content and try to get a refund.

Keep in mind that some virtual prepaid cards are not supported by the Google Payment service, this is not something new. There is no known universal way to fix this issue, although Google Help forum moderators have been sharing their experience with ideas of how to solve the problem with other users.

So give a try to the couple of methods down below and see if the error gets fixed:

Try to pay with a different payment method

Your transaction cannot be completed: What is it and how to fix it?

  • On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Play Store app.
  • Go back to the product you want to purchase and tap the price.
  • Tap on the current payment method.
  • Choose another payment method or add a new one.
  • Follow the instructions on the screen to try and complete the purchase.

Correct any credit and debit card errors

There may be a problem with your credit or debit card if one of the following error messages appears:

  • “Unable to process payment: low balance on card.”
  • “The transaction could not be completed. Use another form of payment.”
  • “Unable to complete transaction.”
  • “Failed to complete transaction: card expired.”
  • “Correct the card information or try a different card.”

In order to fix this, you should check that the card and address information are up to date, send the additional information requested, check that there are sufficient funds to make the purchase or contact the bank or the card issuing entity to get more details.

Delete and add again the payment method

  • Open the Google Play Store app, then select “Accounts” in the menu.
  • Tap on “Payment Settings” in the Payment methods section.
  • Select the payment method you want to delete and submit your decision by tapping “Yes”.
  • Go back to the Account section and select the “Add payment method” option, then follow the instructions on the screen.

This way you will add a new payment method to your Google account.

Remove and add again the google account from the device

  • Open the Settings menu of the Android device, scroll down until you find the Account section and select Google.
  • Select the account you want to delete, tap the menu icon in the top right corner and then tap on the “Delete account” option.
  • Go back to the Account section, select Google and tap on the “Add account” option, then follow the instructions given.
